ok, done some research:
Puyenbroecke, Wachtebeke is the place. 8-10 June 2012. Best ferry Dover-Ostend?
Been on booking.com and this:
There ARE hotels about 4 miles from Wachtebeke (not the site which looks to be another couple of miles from there).
119 euro is the cheapest rate for a double room for the 2 nights 8th and 9th June 2012 (rally is 8th-10th Fri-Sun) Hotel Royal Zelzate the one 3.2 miles from the site.
There are others within a mile or so also, town is Zelzate which is close to the Dutch border, but this particular hotel is the nearest one to wachteberg.
Worth booking as soon as we are definite what we are doing (ferry also).
I've spoken to Chris (& Belinda) this morning and they have generously offered to put us all up at their house the night before.

Just a quick message from LondonScottish (Bryan): Hi fella stuck our early thoughts on a wee tour in the Euro section are you and the Exit 17 lads interested in a WW2 WW1 excursion and for your delight some graves we have 8 of our lads and 2 English based LCS (red and wee Scot with the Lambro) registering an interest.
This is the post: Monday 4th June (Early) Portsmouth Brittany Ferries
Ferry to Caen, Pegasus Bridge on the way in Lunch ? , Hotel and night in Caen
Tuesday 5th June Gold, Juno, and Sword beach tour maybe a little bit of Mullberry , night in Caen
Wednesday 6th June (D Day) Caen to Amiens 130 Miles, Falaise gap for lunch then on to overnight Amiens
Thursday 7th June, Amiens to Ypres, 71 miles. Stop at National Somme Museum (Fleur) then onto Ypres, via British Tank Memorial, Evening Menin Gate and pre Euro do.
Friday 8th June Ypres to Ghent, 48 miles, perhaps meet the LCS and ride into Euro Lambretta food n beer and other things
Saturday 9th Euro Lambretta food n beer and other things carefull dont fall in the lake/pond thats sure to be there
Sunday 10th Ghent to Calais 50 miles or Hamsterdam (sorry a nod to the wire) why would they want o go there ? 103 miles.
Monday 11th Hook of Holland/ Newcastle-Hull or Harwich
Caen Hotels room rate 2 nights in the Ibis (Hotel Paul Doumer) £78
looks like Lincoln, at the site the only real option is camping or taxi,s to and from the site to hotels about 5 miles away (this is not a dig) I can enjoy camping if theres a hotel bed either side.
All open for discussion anyway, obviously the battlefield tour is interesting and the fact it'll be with a lambro or two will make it very much slower, however it'll also be a lot longer away from home.
